Lahore (pr): ‘Ex-President General retired Pervez Musharaf is a traitor of Islam and Pakistan.’ This was stated by Ameer of Tanzeem-e-Islami, Hafiz Akif Saeed, at Qur’an Academy Lahore during the Friday Sermon. He said that Musharaf had abrogated the Constitution of Pakistan on two occasions and must be tried and sentenced under Article 6 of the Constitution. Alluding to the long list of crimes committed by the ex-President, he said that Musharaf was responsible for the murder of hundreds of innocent people, including women and children. The Ameer noted that the ex-dictator had ordered the odious incident of Lal Mosque, in which innocent children reading the Qur’an were slaughtered mercilessly. During his regime, the Shariah of prophet Muhammad (SAW) was ridiculed under state sponsorship. He added that immodesty was promoted during the Musharaf regime in the name of ‘Enlightenment’. The ex-President had been an accomplice to the attack and destruction of the Islamic regime in Afghanistan by US and NATO forces, resulting in the death of millions of Afghan civilians. He had breached all diplomatic norms by ordering the torture of Mullah Abdus Salam Zaeef, the ambassador of Afghanistan to Pakistan. According to the admission in his book, Musharaf had shamefully traded hundreds of Pakistanis to US Authorities in exchange for dollars.
The Ameer said that despite the incriminating evidence against the
ex-dictator, hesitation of the courts in trying him for treason and other
offences was appalling. He added that it was shocking that Musharaf had managed
to flee the premises of Islamabad High Court, despite court orders denying him
bail. He said that the ex-President should not be given preferential treatment
by allowing him residence in his posh Islamabad farmhouse and must be put
behind bars like ordinary criminals.

Lahore (pr): ‘The inane attitude of returning officers has made a mockery out of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.’ This was stated by Ameer of Tanzeem-e-Islami, Hafiz Akif Saeed, at Qur’an Academy Lahore during the Friday Sermon. He said that according to constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, all candidates for the election of national and provincial assemblies must have sufficient knowledge of Islam. He added that the constitution also required all candidates to be ‘Truthful and ‘Trustworthy’ in their general conduct, backed by a proven track record. He added that people were confounded by the appalling decision made by some returning officers and election tribunals allowing fakedegree
holders, loan defaulters and self-proclaimed alcoholics to contest the upcoming elections.
He noted that many people believed that those arguing against the enforcement of articles 62 and 63 of the constitution, actually wanted loan defaulters, morally depraved, ‘Dishonest’ and ‘Deceitful’ politicians to rule the country. He remarked that most analysts were of the opinion that the current problems faced by Pakistan, in which its very existence appeared under threat, had been a direct consequence of six decades of ‘Untruthful’ and ‘Untrustworthy’ rulers plundering the country’s resources and playing with the its future. He added that the security situation in Pakistan was continually deteriorating and the country was facing unprecedented levels of target-killing and terrorism. He said that the situation could exacerbate and reach Rubicon, if people lacking political, financial and moral integrity were allowed to stand in the upcoming elections.
